On November 27, 2024, the "Sing Sational Culture Swap Sing off" ("Voice" Moving Extraordinary - Cultural Exchange Singing Duel) Sino US Song Theme Event, hosted by the Social Practice Department of the School of Business at Shanghai Dianji University, was successfully held in Room 216 of the Business School at the Lingang Campus. This event has attracted the active participation of many students from the business school, building a vibrant bridge for cultural exchange between China and the United States.
The purpose of this event is to promote the integration of Chinese and American cultures in the field of music. Through singing songs, interactive games, and musical appreciation, students can deeply experience the charm of the music cultures of the two countries. The activity is divided into three parts: English song singing competition, emoji guessing song names, and appreciation of Chinese and American musical segments.
In the English song singing competition, contestants take the stage in order of registration/drawing. They not only demonstrated their unique understanding of English songs with beautiful singing, but also shared their love for music through self introduction. The audience actively participated in the selection through online voting, and ultimately won the first, second, third prizes and individual awards. The atmosphere on site was lively and extraordinary.
The emoji guessing song title segment is full of fun, with the host displaying emojis related to the song, and participants raising their hands to answer according to the prompts. This session not only tested the students' familiarity with Chinese and American songs, but also stimulated their imagination and teamwork spirit.
The appreciation segment of Chinese and American musicals takes students into the wonderful world of musicals. After enjoying classic musical clips, students gained a deep understanding of the creative background and artistic characteristics of musicals, and discussed and exchanged ideas on the differences between Chinese and American musicals, broadening their cultural horizons.
After the event, students expressed that it not only enriched their extracurricular cultural life, but also enhanced their understanding of Chinese and American music culture. The Social Practice Department of the Business School stated that it will continue to organize more creative and culturally rich activities in the future to promote campus cultural construction and international cultural exchanges.
